Havana, July 28 (RHC) -- The Temporary Working Group of Havana evaluated Friday issues of social and economic interest for the capital's population, with the presence of the president of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba (Parliament), Esteban Lazo Hernández, and the vice president of the Republic, Salvador Valdés Mesa.
During the meeting, led by Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in the province, and Governor Yanet Hernández Pérez, the situation of the water supply, transportation, the electrical system, the health program, as well as the production, distribution and commercialization of food were checked.
During the meeting, it was learned that several agencies are working together to improve the water supply situation, in order to stabilize the system after the breakdown of the pumping equipment due to electrical storms, and the status of the central, west, east and south systems was checked.
In relation to the subject, Lazo Hernández called to keep in mind the value of foresight in the face of the current complex situations.
"If we are able to foresee in advance where future problems might be, we may be able to avoid them before they happen and prevent possible contingencies and loss of resources," he said.
The head of the Cuban Parliament highlighted the need to permanently develop a system of organization in the distribution of liquid in tank cars, control available resources, follow up on the proposals of the population and strengthen saving actions.
The highest authorities of Havana acknowledged the workers of Hydraulic Resources and those of the electric sector, especially for the recovery of damaged equipment by rolling up motors in Aguas de La Habana's workshops.
For his part, the president of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, Antonio Rodríguez Rodríguez explained that the number of leaks in the Cuban capital has been reduced from more than 3,000 to just over 1,000.
He pointed out that financial and material resources are being mobilized to achieve greater stability in the drinking water supply service.
At the meeting, they discussed the confrontation of abusive prices for the population, with emphasis on agricultural products and other foodstuffs.
It was reported that the price negotiations with the different actors and the measures applied to the violators of the established prices continue.
Valdés Mesa urged to integrate the inspection bodies in order to obtain better results and avoid violations.
Also in attendance were Inés María Chapman, Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba; Betsy Díaz Velázquez, Minister of Domestic Trade; the first secretaries of the municipal committees of the PCC, and representatives of political and mass organizations, among others.
