Havana, Jul 28 (RHC) Members of the 33erd Caravan of the interreligious organization Pastors for Peace, from the United States, reaffirmed in the province of Guantánamo (east) their solidarity with Cuba.

The “caravanists” visited on Thursday the tourist lookout La Gobernadora, some 25 kilometers from the city, which offers a view of the bay occupied in part by the illegal U.S. military base, and held a meeting with officers and fighters of the Border Brigade, defender of the border.

According to national television, Gail Walker, daughter of late Reverend Lucius Walker and leader of the movement founded by her father, reaffirmed to the people of Guantánamo their solidarity with Cuba.

Walker and other “caravanists” declared that they will continue to visit the island in opposition to the blockade imposed by the Cuban government for more than six decades, and called for the normalization of relations between the two countries.

The deputy and president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament), Idaliena Díaz, thanked on behalf of the authorities, representatives of social, religious and fraternal organizations and the Cuban people, for the gesture of love and solidarity of the activists.

The members of Pastors for Peace arrived in this Antillean nation last July 18 through Frank País International Airport, in Holguín, where they carried out an intense program of activities, including the participation in the central act for the 70th anniversary of July 26, celebrated in the polygon of the former Moncada Barracks, in Santiago de Cuba.
