Companies from the biotechnological sector of Cuba and China sign an agreement

Havana, Aug 21 (RHC) The BioCubaFarma Business Group and the government of the High Technology Industrial Development Zone in China signed a memorandum of understanding in Havana this Sunday to introduce clean energy in that Cuban biotech company.

The business pact concluded between the Cuban biotechnological conglomerate and the Shanxi Industrial Group Changgaozhihui Science & Technology Development Group Co. Ltd constitutes the first step for the realization of the project.

The Asian giant will donate a photovoltaic plant with 9,259 solar panels with a generation capacity of 5 Megawatts and an energy storage station. Likewise, the donation includes electric cargo transport, a station for the resupply of energy to vehicles and all the systems integrated into a management network for the clean energy generated.

Eduardo Martínez, president of BioCubaFarma, and Chen Erdong, senior consultant of the Changzhi Municipal Government and first Party secretary of that municipality, signed the agreement at the headquarters of the National Center for Scientific Research.

The technical exchanges between the parties will begin to carry out a first demonstrative stage in which the establishment of the project is expected in one or two facilities of the Cuban Business Group.

This memorandum of understanding is preceded by the proposal of the Chinese-Cuban joint venture Biotech Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd to create a subsidiary in the Changzhi Development Zone to expand bilateral cooperation in biotechnology in this enclave.

For its part, the government of the High Technology Industrial Development Zone in China, in reciprocity, proposed said donation to BioCubaFarma to establish the aforementioned project with a favorable environmental impact.

The parties plan to evaluate the option of a mixed company for the generation and distribution of clean energy through these systems and in compliance with international regulations for this type of technology.

The representatives of the Chinese government entity also toured the Molecular Immunology Center (CIM), also belonging to BioCubaFarma, where they unveiled an allegorical plaque to the Cuba-Changzhi Joint Biopharmaceutical Laboratory.

On that site, its director Belinda Sánchez explained that CIM was created to generate new products, molecules and treatments, specifically for cancer and other non-communicable chronic diseases. (Source: PL)
