Varadero Josone Festival, in Cuba, begins with rumba, jazz and son

 

Havana, Aug 21 (RHC) The third Varadero Josone Rumba, Jazz & Son Festival begins this Monday in the capital city of the western province of Matanzas and ends on Sunday in Cuba's main tourist destination, located in that town.

The emblematic Sauto theater, in the city of Matanzas, will be the venue for the first three days that, starting at 9:00 p.m. local time, will receive important national and foreign artists and groups.

This Monday night will have the presence of one of the legends of rumba in Cuba, Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, a group attached to its African roots since it was founded in 1952. The legendary group will be accompanied by presentations by Yarima Blanco and Son Latino, and Alain Pérez y La Orquesta.

From Thursday, until the culmination on August 27, the performances will take place at the same time in the Josone Park in Varadero.

The fourth day will be led by La Mambanegra, from Colombia; while, from Cuba, Toques del Río, the Faílde Orchestra and its guest Hayla María Mompié, Pachito Alonso y sus Kini Kini, and Diván.

Apart from its recreational function, the contest in this edition calls to sensitize people in the care of the environment.

Isaac Delgado, musician and creator as well as president of the event, recalled that the essence of the event lies in our music, which is why the main promoting organizations are also involved, such as the Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Institute of Music, the Cuban Recording and Music Publishing Company.
