Santiago de Chile, August 31 (RHC)-- A Cuban delegation headed by Humberto Camilo Hernández, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and head of the Department of Cadres, participates today in the funeral honors of the president of the Communist Party of Chile (PCCh), Guillermo Teillier, which are being held in the Chilean capital.

The representation also includes José Ángel Maury, Coordinator for the Americas of the Department of International Relations of that political organization and the Cuban ambassador to Chile, Mercedes Vicente.

The officials were present at a solemn ceremony in the Hall of Honor of the former headquarters of the National Congress, and then joined the procession that went through several streets and avenues of Santiago on its way to the general cemetery.

In the Plaza de la Paz of the capital's necropolis a farewell to the renowned leader is planned with the participation of outstanding artists and political interventions, informed the PCCh in a communiqué.

Teillier, who since 2005 was the top leader of the organization, died on August 29 due to causes derived from the Covid-19, which kept him hospitalized several times since last December.     (Source:PL/Carmen Esquivel)
