Havana, September 15 (RHC) -- The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, held bilateral meetings on Friday with leaders and officials of international organizations attending the G77 and China Summit (September 15-16) in Havana.

The Army general met at the Convention Palace, venue of the event, with the president of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, and the president of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh, and also spoke with the Mexican Foreign Minister, Alicia Bárcena.

In its profile on the social network X (formerly Twitter), the Presidency of the Republic informed that Raúl Castro Ruz held a meeting with the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, who intervened in the inaugural session of the summit.

In exclusive statements granted to the Prensa Latina news agency, Guterres stressed the importance of holding the great meeting in Cuba, days before the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled for next week.

He pointed out that the bloc "is the voice of the global south", and valued its contribution to "give a strong impulse for an essential change that we want to approve in the United Nations, in order to promote reforms and the mobilization of resources in support of the global south".

The G77 and China is the most diverse consultation group in the multilateral sphere, with 134 member states representing two thirds of the United Nations membership and 80 percent of the world's population (Source: Prensa Latina). (Source: Prensa Latina)
