Cuban parliamentary delegation concludes visit to Vietnam

Havana, Sep 20 (RHC) The visit of a delegation from Cuba’s National Assembly of People's Power, headed by its vice president Ana Mari Machado, concluded in Hanoi this Wednesday.

The delegation of Cuban parliamentarians visited the mausoleum erected in the capital's Ba Dinh Square, where the remains of the father of national independence rest, and then toured the house on stilts built in 1958 at the back of the Presidential Palace and which was his place of residence and job.

Mari and her delegation, who participated in Hanoi in the Ninth World Conference of Young Parliamentarians, made a working visit to the northern province of Bac Ninh the day before, where they were received by the secretary of the Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam there, Nguyen Anh Tuan.

The leader valued the presence of this delegation as a path to establish new channels of cooperation between Bac Ninh and Cuban localities, and expressed the aspiration that the Dabaco Vietnam Group investigate and cooperate with Cuban companies in high-tech agricultural production and vaccines.

Meanwhile, the vice president of the Cuban Council of State committed to creating conditions for Bac Ninh entities to cooperate, invest, produce and do business in areas where Cuba has strengths, thus contributing to consolidating bilateral ties.

During her stay in the Vietnamese capital, the vice president of the Cuban National Assembly held two meetings this Monday with Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai and her counterpart from the National Assembly of Vietnam, Tran Quang Phuong.

Le pointed out that the presence of the Cuban deputies took on greater significance as it occurred when both nations are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Cuban Committee of Solidarity with South Vietnam and the 50th anniversary of the first visit to Vietnam of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

The vice head of Government also expressed his hope that Vietnam and Cuba will continue to promote cooperation, so that their relations become increasingly deeper, substantive and effective.

Meanwhile, the meeting between Mari Machado and Tran made it possible to address issues of mutual interest, the preparations for the upcoming visit to Hanoi of the president of Cuba’s National Assembly, Esteban Lazo, and the contents that will be addressed by the planned interparliamentary conference between Vietnam and Cuba, which could take place in 2024.
