Hanoi, Sep 24 (RHC) The president of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, Esteban Lazo, arrived Sunday at Vietnam's Noi Bai International Airport on an official visit.

According to the Cuban legislative body on its website, Lazo held a meeting with members of the Cuban state mission in the Asian nation upon his arrival.

The head of Parliament also met with the vice president of the Union of Vietnam Organizations and with members of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, to whom he expressed his satisfaction for being back in the Asian country, especially on the 50th anniversary of the visit of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, to that nation.

The parties insisted on the relevance of increasing cooperation between the provinces and cities of both countries.

Members of the Cuban delegation accompanying Lazo expressed the island's gratitude to Vietnam for its support in difficult times and in the fight against the blockade imposed by the United States on the largest of the Antilles.

The first vice-president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, Noemi Rabaza, stressed that her country's relations with the Asian nation, "more than ties of friendship, are ties of brotherhood".

For his part, Juan Carlos Marsán, deputy head of the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, called on the new generations to cultivate the deep historical relationship between the peoples.

As part of his agenda in Vietnam, the Cuban parliamentary leader will participate in several activities in honor of the 50th anniversary of Fidel Castro's visit, hold official talks with the highest Vietnamese authorities, tour historical sites and pay tribute to Ho Chi Minh.
