Havana, November 2 (RHC) -- Cuba's resolution on the need to put an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States will be put to a vote today at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), after a first day of debate in which the international community expressed its rejection of this unilateral policy.

As part of today's session, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. (Cuban time), Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean island, will speak, followed by the vote.

On Wednesday, in the first part of the debate, representatives of political organizations and several nations demanded the end of the U.S. blockade, denounced its negative impact on the socio-economic development of the largest of the Antilles, and stressed that this policy violates the principles of the United Nations Charter.

They also condemned the reinforcement of coercive measures in the context of COVID-19, which is detailed in the report presented by Cuba, by virtue of UNGA resolution 77/7.

According to this document, at current prices, the accumulated damages amount to 159,084 million dollars, and between March 1, 2022 and February 28, 2023, they reached four thousand 867 million dollars (405 million dollars per month).

Since 1992, when the Cuban resolution was presented for the first time, it has received the majority support of the international community, although the US government persists in ignoring this claim.   (Source:ACN)
