Havana, September 18 (RHC) -- Some 400 local and foreign delegates will gather in Havana for the 2nd International Medical Education Conference in the 21st Century, to take place September 30th to October 3rd.
The president of the event´s organizing committee, doctor Iliana Morales, said renowned experts will come from the United States, the U.K., Latin America and Eastern European countries.
During the conference, the Havana-based Medical Sciences University will award the Honoris Causa Title to former Salvadorian Health Minister Maria Isabel Rodriguez, who is one of the renowned guests to the event.
The gathering will focus on how graduate medical professionals can contribute to solve the most pressing health problems facing the world population. As part of the agenda, the president of the Ethics Commission from the Cuban Health Ministry, Doctor Ricardo Gonzalez, is scheduled to chair a symposium with the participation of professors from the United States.
At present, Cuba has 14 medical universities, several faculties in different provinces, and the Latin American School of Medicine, with more than 37,000 students.
