Tehran, December 5 (RHC) -- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel today described as profitable the meeting with Iranian businessmen, to whom he highlighted the business opportunities in the Caribbean nation and its exportable offer.

In his account on the social network X, formerly Twitter, the president said that in the conversation they could see the interest of the participants and the possibilities of expanding economic and trade ties between the two countries.

In turn, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, on the same social network, said that in the meeting between the head of state and Iranian businessmen "they expressed the desire and willingness to increase economic, trade and investment ties with Cuba".

The foreign minister added that they were given an overview of the existing potentialities in various sectors.

This is the last day of Díaz-Canel's official visit to Iran, who the day before urged to continue developing joint projects in the scientific area, during a tour of the Pasteur Institute in Tehran.

The president highlighted the successful experience of collaboration between that center and the Finlay Institute of Vaccines, on the island, in the joint production of preparations during the Covid-19 pandemic.

As part of the visit, a contract for the transfer of knowledge on vaccines and a memorandum of understanding for strategic cooperation between the Pasteur Institute of Iran and the Finlay Institute of Cuba for the clinical and preclinical development of immunizers were signed.

On Monday, the president also held official talks with his counterpart Seyed Ebrahim Raisi and met with the president of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, Mohammad Bagher.

He also spoke with the Persian leader, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, who praised Cuba's position on the situation in Palestine and emphasized the need for the creation of a coalition among countries that share a common opposition to the coercive policies of the West.

The leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran recalled that he received Díaz-Canel in the same way that 22 years ago he met with the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, of whom he highlighted his sincerity and revolutionary positions.(Source:PL)
