Havana, December 13 (RHC) -- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel led the presentation of awards to outstanding professionals in higher education on the island, a few days before the celebration of Educator's Day in the country. (December 22).

By presidential decree, the Frank País order of first degree was awarded to almost twenty professors, technical teachers and managers of the Ministry of Higher Education (MES) for their trajectory in the integral formation of the new generations.

On the social network X, the Presidency of the Republic informed that at the ceremony, dozens of teachers who have devoted their lives to teaching received the José Tey medal and the Distinction for Cuban Education.

Delivering the central words of the activity, the head of the MES, Walter Baluja recalled that the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016) defined education as an indispensable part of the Cuban Revolution.

"Exercising the teaching profession in such a complex context as the one Cuba is living is simply admirable; you are the architects of that battle," the minister assured.

Cuba has one of the highest schooling rates in the region and its educational system stands out for its geographic and social coverage.

The country has more than 250 thousand education professionals, who also contribute to the literacy and education of inhabitants from other latitudes, mainly through the Yo sí puedo method, developed by Cuban teachers (Source: Prensa Latina). (Source: Prensa Latina)
