Cienfuegos, December 15 (RHC) --Technicians from Cuba France Cooperation are today carrying out technical tasks to electrify the settlement of Cayo Carenas, the only inhabited islet in Jagua Bay, some 250 kilometers from Havana.

This project is part of the collaboration actions between the Government of Cienfuegos and Cuba France Cooperation.

Cayo Carenas is an islet inhabited by 22 Cienfuegos families in Jagua Bay,
A photovoltaic plant of 20 kWc 230 volts and a generator of 25kVA 230/400V connected to the three-phase grid will be installed there, it will be a modern and environmentally friendly system.

Bernard Martínez, from the Committee for Cooperation and Solidarity of Electricians and Gas Companies (Ccseg) of France, and in charge of renewable energy projects of Cuba France Collaboration, told Prensa Latina that it is an important project for both, because it not only benefits the inhabitants, but is part of the work of the French organization, to promote aid to rural communities and care for the environment.

Martinez, accompanied by Dominique Licata, a worker of the French Electricity Company, carried out here the technical and project work that also contemplates at another time to provide sources of drinking water supply to that Cuban islet.

"This is not the first time we have worked in Cienfuegos and in Cuba, we have already installed similar systems in the Guamuhaya Mountain Massif, in the Center for Innovation and Management for Local Development (Cigedel) and in other places, but the one in Cayo Carenas will be special because of the beauty of that place and the need and the complicated conditions it has," said Martínez.
