Havana, December 15 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC-PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, on Friday sent a fraternal embrace to the members of the Landless Workers' Movement (MST), who began the days of celebrating the 40th anniversary of their organization, which will be celebrated in January 2024.

From his X account, the President welcomed the preparation of the celebrations of this new anniversary, which will be held at the Martin Luther King Center in Havana, and highlighted the multiple actions of solidarity and common struggle between the peoples of Cuba and Brazil.

The MST is a Brazilian peasant social movement of national scope, with about 350 thousand families in its ranks.  The organization was born at the First National Meeting of Landless Rural Workers, an event that took place from January 20 to 22, 1984, in the city of Cascavel, in the state of Paraná, with the participation of 80 workers from 13 states.

The MST was born as a reflection of the territorial and social inequalities of the South American giant and its structural agrarian question. Its main banner was the demand for a popular agrarian reform. (Source: ACN).
