Cuba and India celebrate 64 years of close ties

Havana, January 12 (RHC) Cuba and India highlighted the resumption of political dialogue, after the Covid-19 health emergency, as an important element within the close ties between both nations, which today celebrate 64 years.

Representatives of the two countries emphasized this fundamental step on the path to strengthening bilateral ties during a lunch offered by the Indian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Meenashki Lekhi in honor of the Cuban ambassador Alejandro Simancas, who is completing his mission in the Asian country.

On his social networks, Lekhi described Simancas' contribution to deepening bilateral relations as valuable and wished him continued success in his future projects.

India and Cuba enjoy excellent bilateral relations, which their governments identify as traditionally warm and friendly.

The South Asian country was one of the first to recognize the new Cuban government after the Triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959.

In 2023, both peoples celebrated the 50th and 40th anniversaries of the first and second visits to India of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, who always showed affection for the land of Mahatma Gandhi. (Source: PL)
