Havana, April 5 (RHC) -- The Second International Transport and Logistics Fair (FITL) 2024 will close its doors today at the Pabexpo fairgrounds in Havana with a day dedicated especially to air transportation.

The strategies of Cuba's Civil Aeronautics Institute for the development of aviation will be presented, while the Cuban Aviation Corporation S.A. will show its proposals for the improvement of airport infrastructures.

Centers such as the Aeronautical Training Center and the Air Navigation Training Center will talk about their opportunities for improvement.

This Thursday, FITL hosted a workshop of the Women in Movement Network, which addressed the importance of designing and implementing public policies with a gender approach to the transportation sector.

Daniela Chacón, co-founder of this platform, considered that when women are involved in mobility planning there are concrete results for society, especially in the reduction of gaps.

We hope that Cuba will also have a chapter in this initiative that allows collaboration, training and fundraising to undertake sustainable and inclusive transportation projects, she said.

During the event, the new Mariel Maritime Services Mercantile Society (SMM), which began operations on April 1, was also presented.

Alejandro García Corrales, its president, explained that auxiliary services will be provided in the port of Mariel, such as towing and provisioning of ships, and legal issues regarding the entry and exit of ships will be taken care of.

This new entity is a strength, due to its importance for Cuba and its preponderance in terms of the number of vessels and merchandise it transships.

Accompanied by Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, Minister of Transportation, a collaboration agreement was signed between Empresa Cubana de la Aviación S.A. and Infraero, its Brazilian counterpart, which will improve the conditions of the international airports of the archipelago and optimize their operations.

An agreement was also signed between the joint venture MCV Comercial S.A. and Havana Health entities, which will organize, on an experimental basis, the operation of 15 ambulance services.

The action will modify the way these vehicles are managed, which will include their sustained maintenance by MCV. (Source: ACN)
