Havana, April 14 (RHC)-- Grenada's Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell concludes Sunday his visit to Cuba, after holding official talks at the highest level and signing important cooperation agreements in areas of mutual interest. The Grenadian premier was received the day before by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, whom he thanked for the welcome and the permanent support of his country to the training of human resources and economic activity.
Díaz-Canel expressed to Mitchell his satisfaction for this visit to the island, which reflects the excellent state of bilateral relations, founded by leaders Fidel Castro and Maurice Bishop.
The President of the Republic recognized Mitchell's leadership, his hard work for the development of the sister nation, as well as the maintenance of historical ties with Cuba.
During his stay in Havana since April 11, Mitchell held official talks with his Cuban counterpart, Manuel Marrero, and toured facilities in the capital's historic center. He also signed with his Cuban counterpart several agreements related to the environment, education, health, agriculture and fishing, among others.
The Grenadian president acknowledged that despite the impact of the U.S. economic blockade against Cuba, his spirit of solidarity remains unchanged.
The head of government of the small Caribbean country thanked the authorities of the island for the warm welcome and valued as positive the progress of the agreements signed more than a year ago in Saint George, the capital of Grenada. At the same time, he highlighted the new perspectives that are now opening up with his visit to Havana, during which they signed agreements and memorandums in other areas of shared interest.
Cuba has been a great friend and a great permanent supporter of Grenada, said Mitchell, who highlighted the presence of a medical brigade from the island in his country that has supported the Grenadian health system.
