International construction fair ends in Cuba

 

Havana, April 26 (RHC) Cuba will end today its 14th International Construction Fair, with the participation of more than a hundred exhibiting companies and the presence of Russia as the guest of honor.

Specialized tools and equipment, ceramic products, additives, bikers, PVC pipes, electrical and plumbing materials, were part of the wide range of assortments exhibited at the event, which also promoted technical services and technological systems for construction.

Representatives of companies from 13 other nations attended the event, which combined exhibitions at the Pabexpo fairgrounds with an International Scientific-Technical Conference at the nearby Convention Center.

The inaugural session, on April 23, was attended by the Commander of the Revolution and Vice Prime Minister Ramiro Valdés; the head of Construction in the country, René Mesa; and the Russian ambassador in Havana, Víctor Coronelli, among other personalities.

The scientific forum brought together businessmen and academics, who debated powers on issues such as the optimization of the processes of preparation and construction of works based on technological innovation, as well as models for the management of production chains.

The forum also addressed different experiences on the digital transformation of the investment process, the applications of nanotechnology in the manufacturing of materials, and the mitigation of the environmental impacts of the sector.

At the opening of the Russian stand, the National Association of Builders of that nation announced it is holding dialogues with Cuba for technical collaboration, transfer of technologies and investments.

As explained by Ambassador Coronelli, the ongoing conversations respond to the bilateral interests expressed within in the context of the intergovernmental commission, with a view to strengthening economic, commercial and scientific-technical ties.

According to the diplomat, the main priorities now are the training of young people and the increase in the professionalism of higher-level technicians, in accordance with international advances in construction materials and technologies. The first steps are being taken on a joint platform to facilitate business and academic ties, which will help other future purposes, including the transfer of technologies and the execution of investments.
