Casa de las Américas Literary Award concludes in Cuba
Havana, April 26 (RHC) The 64th Casa de las Américas Literary Prize will conclude today in Havana with the presentation of the award in the Che Guevara Room of the institution.
More than a thousand works in competition from various countries aspire to the distinction in the genres of Novel, Theatre, Essay on an artistic or literary theme, and Literature for children and young people.
The event is part of the celebrations for the 65th anniversary of Casa de las Américas, on April 28. Convened in 1959 and held for the first time in January 1960, the Casa de las Américas Literary Prize is the oldest cultural contest in the country, and the one of this type with the longest history on the continent.
Since its founding, it has had many of the most outstanding figures of literature and thought from Latin America and the Caribbean as jury, in addition to personalities from other regions of the world. (Source: PL)
