La Paz, May 26 (RHC)-- The Government of Bolivia rejects Washington's unilateral list that classifies Cuba as a State that sponsors terrorism.

According to the statement published by the Foreign Ministry on the social network X, "[The list] is also a serious act of interference that has political objectives and destabilization of the internal order in Cuba."

Including Cuba on the so-called list constitutes a totally unfounded accusation used for political purposes, which attempts to justify US aggression against the Caribbean nation, including the inhumane economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed for more than six decades.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken presented another report to Congress on May 15th that arbitrarily lists countries that are allegedly not fully cooperating with US counterterrorism efforts.  This time it did not include Cuba.

Despite this decision, Cuba continues to be unfairly labeled as a State that sponsors terrorism, an approach that shows the inconsistency and political nature of the United States Government.

In recent days, several countries, organizations and leaders have spoken out against this arbitrary measure, such as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Luis Gilberto Murillo, who stated: “We will continue to insist that it is not fair that the island remains in the general list of countries that sponsor terrorism. “This maintains adverse conditions regarding immigration issues.”

I welcome the decision of the United States Government to remove Cuba from the list of countries “that do not cooperate in the fight against terrorism.”

Meanwhile, the Puebla Group expressed: “We request the withdrawal of Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.  It is a unilateral, illegal and immoral measure, which seriously affects the Cuban nation.  Above all, respect for the sovereignty of the people.”

Likewise, the Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, published on social networks: “Dominica observes with concern the continued inclusion of the Republic of Cuba on the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism of the United States Department of State.”
