Havana, August 30 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez said today that the recent statements by the head of the United States Southern Command, General Laura Richardson, on Venezuela, seek to interfere in the internal affairs of the Bolivarian nation.

The top Cuban diplomat said on the social network X that Richardson's statements are intended to support destabilization and violence in the South American country.

"The United States Southern Command, spearhead of the Monroe Doctrine, intends to give lessons in democracy in Latin America and the Caribbean," he stressed on the platform.

This Thursday, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil described the criticisms of the head of the Southern Command as "enormous cynicism."

According to Gil, Richardson is talking about democracy "attacking Venezuela, where fascism and the heirs of Latin American dictatorships are being fought, who today dream of reversing the revolutionary processes in our region."

In a message posted on the social network Telegram, the head of Venezuelan diplomacy asserted that "Richardson's ridiculous threats do not serve to motivate the small violent and terrorist groups that have failed again in our country."   (Source: Prensa Latina).
