Cuban ambassador talks with Sri Lankan researchers about possibilities of cooperation

Havana, September 5 (RHC) The Cuban ambassador to Sri Lanka, Andrés González, and directors of the Coconut Research Institute exchanged this Thursday in Colombo about the possibilities of cooperation with the Caribbean island’s Agroforestry Research Institute.

González and Maribel Duarte, first secretary of the Cuban mission to Colombo, were received at the Sri Lankan specialized center by its president Arosha Rodrigo, the director N. S. Arachchige, and the rest of its Executive.

Diplomatic sources confirmed that both nations have a great interest in developing collaboration.

Recently, the Coconut Research Institute donated 200 seeds to Cuba to develop this production in the plantations of the Caribbean nation.

The Sri Lanka Coconut Research Institute is the first of its kind in the world dedicated to researching the potential of the fruit. Established in 1929, it contributes to the development of new coconut varieties with innovative solutions to the problems faced by this crop. (Source: Prensa Latina)
