Havana, September 27 (RHC) The Minister of Labor of Colombia, Gloria Inés Ramírez, demanded the lifting of the United States economic, financial and commercial blockade of Cuba, during the opening day of the 33rd National Meeting of the Colombian Solidarity Movement with Cuba.

The official described the blockade as infamous and criminal, and emphasized that it restricts the people's possibilities of sovereignty and development with peace and justice.

She recognized the great commitment by the Antillean country with peace in Colombia, and assured that it spared no effort to ensure respect for the dialogue process and to honor the protocols assumed as guarantor.

Ramírez also demanded that the island be removed from the list of countries supposedly sponsoring terrorism.

For his part, Fernando González, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples and Hero of the Republic, thanked the members of the Solidarity Movement for all the support and help provided to the Caribbean nation.

Another of the guests was Elier Ramírez, deputy director of the Fidel Castro Center and deputy to the National Assembly of Cuba, who spoke about the obstacles posed by the intensification of the US siege.
