Bolivian and Venezuelan Presidents Say ALBA Summit on Ebola was a Success

Havana, October 22 (RHC-acn), -- Bolivian President Evo Morales and his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro agreed on the success of the recent ALBA-TCP summit on Ebola held in Havana, Cuba.

Nicolas Maduro told reporters after the summit that the meeting was fair, timely and successful. He referred to the creation of a common front and fast action brigades in case of an Ebola virus emergency in the ALBA member countries.

The Venezuelan president said that the countries of the region need strong public health systems and consider to health care as a human right and not a merchandise. He praised the instant reaction of countries following the call to attend the meeting and the top quality of the forum. He underlined that the most important understanding from the meeting was that public health systems in the region must be strengthened.

Evo Morales stressed that the struggle for life is taking place at the moment despite ideological differences among countries. Since life comes first and the forum came up with an action plan not only for ALBA countries but also for all of the Americas and the world as well.
