Havana, December 9 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez today condemned through the X account the Israeli army's occupation of the demilitarized strip in the occupied Syrian Golan, established in the 1974 Separation Agreement.

The highest representative of diplomacy on the island stressed on the social network that Israeli actions are a flagrant violation of International Law and advocated for the preservation of Syria's territorial integrity.

Israel took advantage of the current political situation and events in the Arab nation to occupy with its military forces Mount Hermon, considered the highest peak in Syria at 1,814 meters above sea level, in addition to a strip of territory that includes the buffer zone between the two nations.

The day before, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for the preservation of Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence.

In a statement published on its website, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged respect for the integrity and security of diplomatic missions based there.

Israel occupied the Golan after the so-called Six-Day War in 1967 and incorporated the territory into its legal system in 1981, which was rejected by the international community.

Damascus has repeatedly stated that the Golan is an inseparable part of Syria and its recovery, by all means guaranteed by international law, will continue to be a priority.
