The Coral Awards are the highest honor bestowed by the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema

 

Havana, Dec 13 (RHC) The Coral Awards, the highest honor bestowed by the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, will be presented today at the Charles Chaplin Hall in Havana.

Additionally, various secondary awards of the most significant event in Cuban cinema will be presented at the National Hotel.

More than 250 films from 42 countries selected from 1,717 submissions have been screened during the festival, which also included conferences and meetings with the filmmakers, actors, and producers.

As part of the event, the first two episodes of the series 100 Years of Solitude, an adaptation of the classic novel by Gabriel García Márquez and a world premiere of Netflix, was screened at the Yara Cinema in the capital.

The event also featured the presentation of the book Of Comics and Animations: The Life of Juan Padrón, by Aramís Acosta, as a tribute to the renowned illustrator and animator Juan Padrón, who received the National Film Award.

Likewise, it included two panels, How to Sell Your Movie to Streaming Platforms and Artificial Intelligence: Opportunity or Threat?.

The rock band La Renga, at the invitation of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry, performed their music at the iconic corner of 23 and 12. This was the first time the Argentine group performed in Cuba, where they also showcased their documentary, Totally Possessed.

This Thursday, there was a special program of film screenings related to the reality of Palestine and the struggle of its people for the right to live in peace, a cause that the Festival has defended since its inception. (Source: Prensa Latina)
