Cuban Deputy Minister of Culture begins working visit to Seychelles

Havana, Jan 31 (RHC) The Deputy Minister of Culture of Cuba, Lizette Martínez, has arrived in Seychelles today on an official working visit, having been invited by the National Institute of Culture, Heritage, and the Arts of the African nation.

Martínez will carry out a comprehensive work plan and meet with government officials, members of Parliament, and Seychellois artists. She will also conduct workshops with cultural organizations and art educators.

During her stay in Seychelles, which will last until February 10, the official will sign a memorandum of understanding between the National Libraries of Cuba and Seychelles.

Likewise, she will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism Sylvestre Radegonde, and the chief secretary of Tourism Sherine Francis.

The Cuban deputy minister of culture will engage in conversation with Wavel Woodcock, the chair of the Press, Youth, Sports, and Culture Committee and the vice-chair of the International Relations Committee.

Additionally, she will pay a formal visit to the Secretary General of the Institute of Culture, Heritage, and the Arts, and will tour sites of cultural, heritage, and historical significance.

Cuba and the Seychelles have been diplomatic partners since April 12, 1978, based on the principles of friendship, solidarity, and a long history of collaboration in the fields of healthcare and human resource development.

In September 2024, in Havana, the presidents of Cuba and Seychelles, Miguel Díaz-Canel and Wavel Ramkalawan, expressed their desire to further strengthen the ties between their nations and collaborate in healthcare and other fields.

On that occasion, three agreements were concluded, aimed at fostering the growth of political and diplomatic relations. The agreements also addressed collaboration concerning criminal justice, environmental affairs, and academic and diplomatic training. (Source: Prensa Latina)
