Havana, November 4 (RHC) -– The 2014-2015 Sugar harvest in Cuba will get underway in late November with the operation by 44 sugar plants as announced by Dionis Perez, executive with the island´s Sugar Industry.

The executive said that the process will be favored by a fields with large plantations ready for the industry, which expects to use its capacities at 72 percent, but that higher efficiency is crucial to have positive results.

Perez gave remarks at a meeting of the Cuban Association of Sugar Technicians where participants shared their experiences to contribute to the upcoming process.

Last year, sugar production increased by 4.2 percent if compared to 2013, but it only translated into 88 percent due to low industrial output, and the impact of bad weather.
