Hanoi, Dec 29, (RHC), -- The 56th anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution has been celebrated in the Vietnamese province of Hoa Binh. There, Cuban workers, students and Vietnamese officials got together in a lively commemoration of the Cuban landmark event.
The Vice President of the People's Committee in Hoa Binh, Bui Van Khan, led the celebration with speakers highlighting the return to Cuba of three heroes that were unfairly held in U.S. prisons.
Hoa Binh, 73 km from the capital, was very significant in the struggle against French colonialism and U.S. aggression, and is currently the home to the largest hydroelectric plant in Southeast Asia.
Cuban Ambassador Herminio Lopez appreciated the Vietnamese gesture to hold this meeting on occasion of the anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, and reviewed major Cuban achievements in 2014, highlighting the important event in the Cuba-Vietnam bilateral agenda, starting with the visit of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to Havana in March this year.
Vice Rector of the National Management Academy and member of the Association of Friensdhip Vietnam-Cuba, Nguyen Viet Thao, delivered the final words at the gathering, referring to the close, longstanding links between the parties, governments and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba.
A similar event was held in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas, where Cuban medical and educational workers there organized a cultural gala to mark the significant date.
