Havana, January 1 (RHC-PL), -- The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) takes to the stage Thursday some of the main classic ballets of the 19th century, in a tribute gala to the 56th anniversary of the Revolution.
The Magic of Dance ballet includes important moments of the choreographic art in Europe, where two styles with their own characteristics prevailed: the Romantic and Classic styles.
One of the ballet's historical divas, Cuban prima bellerina Alicia Alonso, conceived the performance with her versions of ballets from the world repertoire like Giselle, The Swam Lake, Don Quijote, Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, and Coppelia.
The original pieces belong to famous ballet directors Jean Coralli, Jules Perrot, Arthur Saint-Leon, Marius Petipa and Lev Ivánov, who also contributed with other important pieces to the ballet's history.
The gala closes with the Gottschalk symphony, a unique piece of the 20th century by the authorship of Alicia Alonso, which allows to see the Caribbean identity inside the ballet.
The ballet show will also be seen on January 3 and 4 at Havana's National Theater with the performances of ballet dancers Viengsay Valdes, Anette Delgado, Dani Hernandez, Yanela Piñera, Amaya Rodríguez, Jose Losada, Sadaise Arencibia, Arian Molina, and Grettel Morejon.
