Santiago de Cuba Ready for International Symposium on Communications

Santiago de Cuba, January 15 (RHC-PL) -- Everything is ready now to begin the 14th International Symposium on Social Communication from January 19th to the 23rd in Santiago de Cuba, with the participation of Cuban experts and from 22 other countries.

At a press conference, Leonel Ruiz, director of the Center for Applied Linguistics (CLA), which sponsors the event, said that once again confirmed the remarkable call on other nations on the five continents, a surplus over the 14 former editions since 1987.

Ruiz said that the diversity of geographical origins will continue, with the participation of specialists from Japan, Angola, Poland, Turkey, the United States and the Netherlands, among others, with a large representation of Latin America.

He highlighted the co-sponsoring by universities and other cultural institutions and Cuban scientists, in particular the Department of Linguistics of the Institute of Literature, and entities of the Netherlands, Basque Country, Austria, Denmark, Germany, Spain, France and Chile.

Four previous courses will be taught Monday 19 by scholars from France, Chile, California (U.S.) and Belgium with issues related to the modeling of language, inference tasks and discursive robustness and the journey of learning dictionaries exercises on the net about linguistic corpus.

The inaugural conference will be conducted by Nancy Morejon, president of the Cuban Academy of Language, and will focus on the links between language, literature and oral tradition.

Belonging to the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, CLA boasts a fruitful career of 40 years in pursuit of perfection of the Spanish language, with the development of research and development of school dictionaries and other traditional and virtual tools.
