Havana, February 17 (RHC-Prensa Latina)-- The President of the National Assembly of People's Power, Esteban Lazo, met on Monday with members of the European Parliament who are on an official visit to the island nation.

Lazo welcomed them to Cuba and expressed appreciation for the deputies' visit, which he said will help bring them closer to the Cuban people. During their meeting with Lazo, the deputies discussed different issues about the political links between Cuba and the European Union.

The Cuban parliament president thanked the deputies' support for Cuba's struggle and efforts to achieve the release of the Five Cuban heroes and lift the U.S. blockade on Cuba.

The European delegation represents the United Left within the European Parliament, a group which supports the Cuban Revolution and favors friendly ties between Europe and Cuba.
