Washington, Mar 31, (RHC), – We have come here fully aware of the deep differences between our two countries as to their political systems, democracy and international law, but it is also possible to hold a civilized dialog on any issue, including human rights, said the Cuban permanent representative at the United Nations Anayansi Rodriguez in reference the human rights talks between Cuba and the United States, in Washington.

Rodriguez made her statements while speaking to Cuban reporters covering the US-Cuba talks on March 31 on human rights. She said this exchange is one more example of Cuba´s willingness to address any issue with the United States on equal grounds and reciprocity.

The Cuban official delegation to the talks arrived in Washington on Sunday, headed by Pedro Luis Pedroso, deputy general director for Multilateral Affairs and International Law at the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

The US delegation is headed by Tom Malinowski, Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor.

Rodriguez added that Cuba will not only present is experience in the promotion and protection of all human rights for its people, but also the contribution made by hundreds of thousands Cuban professionals in many countries of the world during half a century now.

Our country will also express its concerns about the human rights situation in the United States, which is not only a concern of Cuba but also of the very US society and the international community.
