Holguin, April 30 (RHC) -- The Oscar Lucero Moya University of Holguin renewed on Tuesday an international cooperation agreement with the University of Western Ontario, Canada, during the second day of the 7th International Scientific Conference in that Cuban university.
Reynaldo Velazquez, rector of the center of higher studies, pointed out that the agreement initially established in the field of Humanities will now be expanded to the faculties of engineering, which have projects of marked interest for the foreign party.
He stressed that the Cuban University has as an essential principle the creation, with society in mind, of a public good from the scientific activity that is capable of generating.
John Doerksen, academic vice-rector of the Western Ontario University, described as very productive obtaining these agreements, with which a wide participation of students and teachers is achieved, primarily in Seminars of Canadian Studies that take place every year at the Holguin university center.
The agreement also includes scholarships for master’s degrees and doctorates and participation in specialized workshops.
We have verified the quality of the professionals at the center and we are the ones who are grateful for this union, Doerksen said.
Also on Tuesday other agreements with the National University of Villa Maria in Argentina and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, were signed.
Attending this year’s edition of the International Scientific Conference were over 400 delegates, including about 200 foreigners coming mainly from Latin America, Spain, Canada and Angola.
