Havana, June 3 (RHC)-- Cuba's civil defense authorities called for a more efficient management of hydraulic and water resources to confront the prolonged drought affecting the country.

Civil Defense chief Major General Ramón Pardo Guerra urged a more sustainable use of available resources, the adoption of risks reduction measures toward.

Pardo Guerra termed the national hydraulic situation as serious and called for additional measures toward guaranteeing safe water supply. He called specifically on authorities with the ministries of science, technology and the environment, agriculture, planning and the economy, and the national hydraulic and meteorology institutes to work together toward mitigating the effects of eventual climate phenomena.
