Brussels, June 10 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez and his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier addressed possibilities to expand bilateral relations in different sectors during a meeting in Brussels, Belgium.

The two foreign ministers met prior to the 2nd Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and the European Union, according to Prensa Latina news agency.

Bruno Rodriguez said that they addressed the need to find ways to sponsor the development of bilateral economic relations in the face of inconveniences deriving from the U.S. economic blockade against Cuba. He added that bilateral relations between Germany and Cuba develop on solid ground with the willingness of expanding in all sectors.

Germany is an important economic partner and the modernization process of the Cuban economy offers opportunities to German companies, said the Cuban foreign minister.

The German government official for his part welcomed the ongoing process to reestablish bilateral diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States by saying that he hoped that such détente means a positive contribution to a world that is undergoing a difficult situation.

The Cuban foreign minister invited his German counterpart to visit Cuba and enjoy the hospitality of the Cuban people.
