Johannesburg, July 3 (RHC) -– The five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters, known worldwide as the Cuban Five, have just concluded their friendly visit to South Africa, after touring several provinces of the country.
Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González participated in a solidarity event on Thursday, where they thanked the South African people for their support in the fight for their release from U.S. prisons.
The Five had been imprisoned since 1998 until just a few months ago in the United States, where they were wrongfully convicted after they monitored the activities of extremist Cuban exile groups in the state of Florida.
After their successful South African visit, they will travel to Namibia, where they'll stay until Monday, July 6th. They're also scheduled to visit Angola, where three of them fought during the independence war in which Cuba played a major role.
