Havana, August 29 (RHC) -- FARC rebel militias and the government of Colombia resumed peace negotiations today, Saturday, after the rebel delegation called for strengthening of relations with Venezuela.
“A stable and lasting peace in Colombia is essential to the inter-American development and brotherly relations,” underlined a communique by the insurgents.
“Venezuela is and will remain a partner and supporters of peace in Colombia and we have to promote the unity and integration of our two nations with a common history, daughters of the same father, Simon Bolivar,” adds the text.
The document further expressed support for Venezuela and its sovereignty in the face of criminal actions by Colombian paramilitary groups operating the border between the two neighboring countries.
