Brussels, September 17 (RHC)-- Anti-terrorist fighter and Hero of the Republic of Cuba Gerardo Hernández met in Brussels with the President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Belgian Chamber of Deputies, Mr. Dirk Van Der Maelen.

During the meeting, the Belgian politician expressed satisfaction with the release from U.S. prisons of Gerardo and his other four compatriots, members of the Cuban Five -- where they served unjust sentences. He also advocated strengthened relations between the Belgian and Cuban parliaments.

Meanwhile, Gerardo Hernández thanked Belgian deputies for their support to the Cuban Five's cause and called on the international community to reject the over 50 year-old U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.

Gerardo is currently in Belgium accompanied by his wife, Adriana Pérez, and their 8-month-old daughter, Gema. The visit is as part of a European tour that has also taken them to France and Portugal.
