Washington, September 25 (RHC)-- U.S. President Barack Obama is set to meet with his Cuban counterpart, President Raúl Castro, in the coming days at the UN General Assembly in New York, the White House reported.
"It is expected that President Obama will have an opportunity to exchange with President Castro in New York at some point between Sunday and Monday,” Deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communication for President Obama, Ben Rhodes said during a phone press conference.
In statements to EFE news agency, Rhodes said that although a formal meeting has not been set, “the two leaders will seize the opportunity, while they are both there to exchange on the ongoing process toward the normalization of bilateral ties.”
Presidents Raúl Castro and Barack Obama are both scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on Monday.
