Washington, September 29 (RHC)-- U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker will visit Cuba next week to discuss a series of new rules related to travel and business between the two countries.

Pritzker will meet with Cuban officials October 6th and 7th to address regulatory changes that went into effect last week and to learn about the structure of the Cuban economy, the Department of Commerce announced as cited by The New York Times.

The official is the second member of Barack Obama's cabinet to visit Cuba since the two countries re-established diplomatic relations. Secretary of State John Kerry travelled to the Cuban capital on August 14th to preside over the flag-raising ceremony at the U.S. embassy in Havana.

Some of the new rules announced by the Department of Commerce and the Treasury, which took effect on September 21st, allow cruise ship and ferry service between the United States and Cuba; permit American companies to open physical locations and hire workers in Cuba; and make it possible for the first time in decades for certain American businesses, including in the telecommunications sector, to form partnerships with Cuban firms, according to The New York Times.

The upcoming visit to Cuba by the U.S. secretary of commerce was announced on the prime-time Cuban TV newscast on Monday evening.
