Bogota, October 22 (RHC-PL) -- Organizers have confirmed that Colombian solidarity movements will demand the end of the blockade of Cuba, maintained by U.S. administrations, during a national meeting of solidarity with the island to be held from October 30th to November 1st in Cartagena.

Supporting the call by world figures and movements to abolish the blockade will be one of the motivations for the meeting in the Colombian city, as well as demanding the return of the territory occupied by the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo, according to organizers of the event.

Additionally, the attendees will defend integration of the Latin American and Caribbean countries during the sessions of the solidarity meeting, which will include talks on the updating of the Cuban economic system and the progress and challenges in the process of normalization of Washing ton-Havana relations.

The Charge d'Affaires at Cuban embassy in Colombia, Zulan Popa, confirmed the presence at the meeting of hero Rene Gonzalez, one of the members of the group of anti-terrorists internationally known as The Five.

As a simultaneous initiative, photographer and filmmaker Roberto Chile will open two photography exhibitions: "Fidel is Fidel," a group of photographs of the statesman taken specifically in the year 2010, and "People of African Descent: Guanabacoa-Cuba."

Representatives of all movements and houses of friendship with Cuba, as well as the foundation of solidarity to face natural disasters, devoted to sent aid to Cuba after cyclones and hurricanes, will participate in the 24th meeting of its kind, organized in Cartagena, Colombia.
