Havana, November 7 (PL-RHC)-- The World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) will hold its 19th General Assembly in Havana from November 9-12, announced the organizing committee.
More than 130 representatives of youth organizations will meet at the Havana International Conference Center with the purpose of evaluating the work of WFDY in the current global political context, said Jose Angel Maury, Head of International Relations Department of the National Committee of Young Communist League of Cuba (UJC).
He added that during the WFDY assembly also will session the International Committee of the UJC, during which the young visitors will know the results of the 10th Congress of the Cuban organization held in July 2015, as well as details of the island's reality.
This will be a space to spread the reality of this nation, how socialism is updated and show it as an alternative fairer for everyone and especially for the young, said the official.
It is expected to provide an overview of the development prospects of the country and the process of relations between Cuba and the United States, he added.
The participants will represent 70 organizations from 35 countries on five continents. A larger assistance from Latin America is expected and 23 general secretaries or principal leaders of groups from around the world have confirmed so far their assistance.
As part of the agenda of the Assembly, will be held meetings with mass organizations in the communities, a visit to the International Camp Julio Antonio Mella and a gala on November 10 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of WFDY.
On Thursday, November 12th, near the Havana Malecon will take place the Festival of Nationalities, in which also are involved the foreign students, who are on the island. The Assembly will conclude with a concert of Buena Fe.
The WFDY is an organization recognized by the United Nations. The organization was founded in 1945 as a broad international youth movement.
