Cuba and the United States Launch Joint Marine Preservation Project

Havana, November 17 (RHC)-- Cuba and the United States are presenting on Tuesday the results of a joint study research on the preservation of sharks, during the 10th Congress of Marine Sciences which focuses on the conservation of the sea surrounding the island and the fishing of marine species.

The director of the Cuban National Aquarium, Guillermo Garcia, said that the large U.S. participation with over 100 experts favors significant debates and bilateral exchange.

The forum is running until Friday, November 20th with the participation of 290 Cuban specialists and another 120 experts from 12 nations, who are considering 37 presentation by U.S. delegates among other papers.

The vice-president of the Center for Environmental Management of Cuban Bays and Coasts, Liuba Chabalina said that the works focus on the human impact on marine areas and risk management; climate change; preservation of biodiversity and biotechnology.
