Debates on José Martí's Political Thought Continue in Havana

Havana, January 26 (RHC)-- The 2nd International Conference 'With All and for the Good of All' entered its second day of sessions at Havana's Convention Center with a lecture by U.S. political activist, Gloria La Riva.

Sponsored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the event is being attended by more than 600 delegates from 45 countries. Participants are debating Marti´s ethical and political thoughtthat favored dialogue and understanding among nations and peoples.

La Riva, who is the Coordinator of the Solidarity with Cuba Committee in the United States, spoke about social struggles in that country in the context of the current economic crisis.

Also on Tuesday, delegates debated climate change, the importance of solidarity in today's world, the current situation in Latin America and the Caribbean, and the proclamation of the region as a zone of peace by the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

On Wednesday, delegates will participate alongside Cuban university students in the traditional torchlight march paying tribute to José Martí on his 163rd birthday anniversary.
