Geneva, May 13 (RHC)-- Cuba has once again advocated the elimination of each and every one of the 15 000 nuclear weapons that exist in the world today, arguing that their use are unjustifiable under any security doctrine whatsoever.

A communique issued by the Cuban permanent mission to Geneva-based international organizations asserts the strong commitment of member countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to the promotion of nuclear disarmament.   

In statements to reporters in Geneva, Claudia Pérez, a Cuban senior diplomat, called for urgent multilateral negotiations at the highest level towards achieving a binding international agreement on the prohibition and total elimination of these weapons of mass destruction.

The Cuban diplomat recalled the words of Cuban Revolution Leader Fidel Castro, when he said that now country or state has any right to either posses nor use nuclear weapons, arguing that their mere existence constitute one of the most serious threats to our species' very survival on Planet Earth.
