With only one month to go before the U.S. presidential elections -- when the House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate will also be up for grabs -- surprises still arise from the current race for the presidency in the United States.  This is the most unusual, tangled and difficult election in that country's modern history.

Trump's COVID-19 positive result unleashed great uncertainty about what could happen if the case becomes serious, but also about the actual fact that the president has been hit by SARS-CoV-2.  It probably isn't a lie aimed at winning votes by pity or sympathy, since it is instilled in his personality to not appeal to compassion, but to force and conflict.

If there is anything that a person with such a great ego hates, it is precisely to provide an image of weakness, for whatever reason.  That is not his way of acting.

Besides, it would be a very costly lie in political terms because just weeks before the elections, he is already missing his precious and irretrievable campaign events.

Nonetheless, since the announcement in the early hours of Friday that Trump and his wife tested positive for COVID-19, many contradictory signals have come in about his real situation.

The official versions say that the Preident is in good health, but at the same time they report that an experimental cocktail drug has been applied to him, which in other cases has given encouraging but not yet conclusive results.  If he is actually in good health, why give him an experimental treatment?

An anonymous source, who was later identified by The New York Times as Mark Meadows, chief of staff, said that the president's vital signs have been worrying from Saturday to Sunday, therefore, the next two days, that is, today and tomorrow, will be significant for his evolution.

ABC and CNN said Trump received supplemental oxygen on Friday before being transferred to a hospital.  As we can see, there is a set of versions that makes it difficult to guess what is really happening.

The truth is that in the worst possible way, the current resident of the White House is discovering the tremendous irresponsibility of minimizing a dangerous pandemic, as well as denying the importance of individual means of protection, such as wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing.

October's first surprise --- what's next?
