The statement issued by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the confrontation of human trafficking operations for military recruitment purposes was widely reported in the international press.
The statement, brief but energetic, reiterated a traditional policy of Cuba, the rejection and application of the law against those who participate internally in mercenarism and human trafficking.
The reiteration of that policy was timely in view of what, according to the Declaration, represents the detection by the Cuban Ministry of the Interior of a human trafficking network.
The network operates from Russia in order to add Cuban citizens living there, and even from the Caribbean nation, to military contingents involved in the conflict in Ukraine.
The Declaration of the Cuban Foreign Ministry reveals the work for the neutralization and disarticulation of the criminal plot, crowned with the initiation of criminal proceedings against some of those involved.
There is no passivity but quite the contrary, although even after the official pronouncement, part of the international press continued to distort Havana's position.
The MINREX statement itself pointed it out: Cuba's enemies promote distorted information that seeks to tarnish the country's image and present it as an accomplice of illicit activities that are categorically rejected here.
They ignore the fact that the Caribbean nation has a long and forceful trajectory against mercenarism and actively manifests it in the UN.
Moreover, Cuba officially stressed that it is not part of the war in Ukraine, hence it acts resolutely against those who practice mercenarism, in order to prevent citizens from using weapons in that or any other country.
Everything pointed out in the Declaration is very useful to understand and denounce the maneuvers of groups and individuals with terrorist records, fundamentally based in the Florida peninsula, about what they call -understandably- the participation of Cubans in combat actions on the Russian side.
Cuba proclaims its truth and acts with the force of law according to the facts evidenced.
