Solidarity is the word that defines the relationship between our country and CubaCoop, a French group that since its creation in 1995 has stood by the Cuban people and accompanied their struggle against the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

Over the years, several campaigns have been launched by the Cuba Cooperación Francia Association to denounce the damage caused to Cuban families by the economic siege, which it describes as unjust and inhumane.

But also to raise funds for essential areas such as health, education and food. In fact, at the beginning of last February, in France, it called for donations of funds for the purchase of food and basic necessities for hospitals and other health facilities, as well as for homes for children without filial support.

The organization's solidarity became more intense during the COVID 19 pandemic, in the face of the tightening of the blockade by then U.S. President Donald Trump, with the adoption of 240 measures.

On French soil, funds were raised for health aid and medical equipment and drugs were sent to the Greater Antilles.

But CubaCoop's support goes beyond that and participates in various projects of social benefit in different localities of the Cuban territory. It collaborates in sectors such as water and sanitation, renewable energies, food, culture and sports.

It is also present in helping children with disabilities and the elderly, two highly vulnerable sectors of the population that are seriously affected by the limitations imposed by the hostile U.S. policy.

And for the past two years it has been sending equipment to support the preparation and acclimatization of Cuban athletes who will compete in the summer in the Olympic and Paralympic competitions in Paris, the French capital.

Cubacoop continues to explore with the Cuban authorities new areas of cooperation and, with that aim, since the end of last month a large delegation of the group, composed of businessmen, local authorities and representatives of political forces and trade unionists, has been in the Caribbean nation.

The French association is committed to accompanying the Cuban people in their struggle against the blockade and in their goal of advancing in the construction of a better country.
