In parks, squares and communities of the 168 municipalities of the country, the so-called Employment Fairs are gaining space, with the aim of offering the population quality jobs, but also alternatives for training courses in trades.

On Saturday, May 10th, a new event of this type takes place throughout the archipelago, which has been showing positive results.

In statements to the Granma newspaper, the director of Employment of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Ariel Fonseca, stated that in the first Fair held this year 9,030 people accepted one of the offers presented, of them more than 7,000 in one employment and 1,398 training courses.

Although it is still a fairly new initiative in the national territory, it has been accepted among citizens, by bringing the job offers available in various spheres in municipalities and provinces closer to their places of residence, given the accelerated aging of the population and internal and external migration.

The first of these experiences took place in the eastern region, specifically in Santiago de Cuba, and its great impact, the authorities pointed out, caused it to be transferred to the rest of the Caribbean nation.

Employers from the state and non-state sectors participate in these meetings, which are a valid option for everyone and especially for young people who are disconnected from study and work.

It is also an opportunity for people who wish to moonlight or are looking for a job change for different reasons.

The presence of employers allows them to know first-hand all the information about available jobs and answer any questions from interested parties.

The authorities have indicated that they also seek to motivate those who carry out informal work, who do not have the benefits provided by social security and other rights contemplated in labor legislation, to normalize their situation.

It is good to clarify that although Fairs are organized at the national level, each territory can hold these meetings according to its needs and its local development plans, an aspect that has been emphasized to boost the economy and improve the life of the communities. .

The Constitution of the Republic, approved in a referendum in 2019, defines work as a social duty and also a right, and in this way the Employment Fair, promoted by the authorities, seeks to ensure that every citizen can access a decent and that meets your expectations and aspirations.
